REFERENCING & PLAGIARISM
Academic Integrity is based on five fundamental values: Honesty, Trust, Fairness, Respect, and Responsibility.
Education is a process in which the knowledge and insights of other people are brought together for students who then build their own knowledge and insights which in future can be shared and developed by others.
Intellectual Property (IP) refers to intellectual creations for which the rights are legally assigned to the owner and protected by national and international law.
Different academic institutions, and the faculties within those institutions, make use of different kinds of referencing systems. Given the wide variety of instances in which you may need to reference, this guide provides more detail with regards to specific examples of how you might use the Harvard style of referencing in your academic writing within the context of The IIE.
The IEEE referencing style is a referencing style created and managed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. It consists of:
- In-text citations throughout a document, using numbers in [square brackets]
- A reference list at the end of the paper with details of each source mentioned in the text
It is a commonly used referencing style in electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, and other technical disciplines.
